Classical Pilates
Classical Pilates stays true to the original method created by Joseph Pilates. It is a movement system using gravity, body weight and spring resistance to simultaneously stretch, strengthen and lengthen your muscles. Specialized apparatus both supports and challenges your body to create long lasting changes in posture, alignment and movement patterns.
Open Gym (Small Group)
Open Gym is the way Joseph Pilates intended his students to practise. Limited to small groups, this is a non-led class where each student practises their own individual program. A Classical Pilates Instructor is present for supervision, guidance, questions and spotting. These classes are designed to promote independence and let you take control of your workout!
Pre-requisite: You must have a basic understanding of the Pilates repertoire on both the mat and reformer. A minimum of three private session is required for all new clients interested in taking part in Open Gyms.

Franklin Method
Welcome to the Franklin Method
FRANKLIN METHOD CLASS - 55 MINUTES -Saturday 9 am
Open to all levels, Franklin Method classes are small group sessions guided by a Beyond Pilates instructor.
Rather than teaching a specific set of exercises, the Franklin Method teaches how any movement can become a beneficial exercise if performed with good function.
Through the use of imagery, benefits include increased power and efficiency of movement without risk of injury.
WHAT ARE THE FRANKLIN METHOD STUDY GROUPS AND WORKSHOPS?
Each workshop focuses on a unique theme or topic intended to deepen and accelerate the benefits of your practice, provide new challenges and insights as well as expand your knowledge of the Franklin Method. Franklin Method workshops are an excellent addition to your regular workouts.
Spectrum Pilates
Kirsten McFarlane is a 3rd Generation Classical Pilates Instructor with a background in physiotherapy. She loves to get people moving better and knows that we all work harder when we're having fun. Her favourite thing about teaching is hearing about how Pilates has improved her client's lives, from less pain to improved sport performance to feeling more youthful!
For Teachers
We love working with teachers at The Pilates Collective! Whether you are a new teacher hoping to consolidate your understanding of the method, a seasoned teacher looking for a way to access the work at a deeper level or a contemporary teacher curious to try the Classical system, we can meet your needs. Our 2nd and 3rd Generation teachers work close to the source and are always investing in our own learning/growth. Which means we always have new things to offer you!
Class Series
These are 4-8 week programs that focus on something specific. Whether it's an age group, an activity, or an introductory program these series are a great way to get consistency and progress with results.

Beyond Pilates Teacher Training Program
The Beyond Pilates Teacher Training Programs located at The Pilates Collective offers our trainees the opportunity to observe our teachers in action at our studio, access to the studio for self-practice and the chance to practice with volunteers students during their apprenticeship. All of these are important parts of your development as future teachers.
Sandy Shimoda Events - May 29-31, 2026
Sandy Shimoda (from Vintage Pilates in LA) is coming to our studio May 29-31! It is recommended that you join the whole weekend to maximize your learning opportunities from her. With over 20 years of study with Jay Grimes (one of Joe Pilates students), Sandy has a no-nonsense, practical and very deep understanding of the Method, which she generously shares with anyone who is willing to learn.
